A Calm Eid..Part 2

I went to my auntie's house after that coz no one was at home…Dad went to visit a friend in Dubai and my brothers went with their friends to Sharjah…LUCKY MALES!

In the second day, some relatives came from Sharjah to visit. My granny's sisters and brother came as well. I swear that I love my great grandpa! Though I dont quite understand what he says but I love him, he remind me with my late Grandpa....really kind! He is very kind to me and I wish if I can visit his hometown in this Winter break.

The third day was normal so I started working on my media project…here we go again with the work and heartache. There is a lot of work waiting for me but I can handle them…because I will be back to the uni soooon.

A Calm Eid..Part 1

I could not sleep in the night before Eid. I went to bed at 12:30 in the morning but I could not sleep then I heard the morning call for prayer. I got up and went to have a shower. I prepared what I was supposed to wear. I don’t know what exactly I was doing but I fall a sleep around 7 am. Then at 8:30 am, Dad woke me up. I went to the kitchen to organize the food and what to serve for the guests.

At 9 I went to wear my Eid clothes. I chatted with Dad for a while and at 10:30 am, I had nothing to do. I went online and watched some drama! That was a very good way to spend my first day in Eid. But I could not help it, I had nothing to do. My brothers' friends came to the house, dad went out and granny was still in the hospital.

At 2 pm, my auntie came and together we went to see granny. We stayed there for two hours then we went to visit my auntie's husband's family. I have not seen those people for a while and it was great to see them again. Afterwards, we went to visit my granny's best friend, I love that old lady who told me that I should get married soon! What? Me? Excuse me?

This Year's Iftar Eve!...2

Then it was the breakfast time, it was so nice to have breakfast with friends for a change. After we finished, we started walking around enjoying the evening. I met some teachers’ families! Mr. S brought his wife and son, Mr. J was there as usual with his family, Mr. Ja as well with his children, mashallah they really have grown up! I met Mr. By’s mom and dad too. What I surprised me was seeing my accounting teacher Mr. K there wearing Emarati traditional clothes…he looked nice!! And of course I did not forget to take photos of all that.

I left with the first bus to UAQ because I did not want to be late. I had a nice chat on the way with my old friend M and Ry. I liked the evening very much though some friends and teachers did not show up. I wonder how would the evening would be like if Mr. G, Mr. D, Mr. A, Mr. B, Mr. Tn, Ms. K, Ms. J, Mr. K, Mr. Do and Mr. Dn were there? I am sure it would have been SUPER-FUN! I will never forgive some of them for not showing up, you know who you are, no matter what kind of excuses they will give me because…there is nothing more important than seeing ME in the Iftary day…Jk

This Year's Iftar Eve!...1

After the Iftar evening last year, I promised myself to be in the next one …and that day finally arrived. What made the Iftar evening this year more special is that many of my friends stayed for it.

When my friends and I finished classes, we faced a problem. We wanted to leave our laptops and stuff somewhere; we could not handle dragging them behind us. I suggested that we can leave it in one of our teachers’ offices. The bad thing is that in that afternoon, most of them went home. Mr. D was the first one I thought about. So F and I went to take his permission to leave our stuff in his office. He told us that he might not stay for the evening but did not object on leaving our stuff in his office.

After that problem solved, we felt terribly bored. F and I sat in the second floor, watching the preparations which were going on down the atrium. We met with a new teacher and had a long friendly chat with him. Then again, we felt bored so the gang came up with one evil-naughty plan.

F, Ry, Sr and I went to some teachers’ offices. We wanted to leave some stuff for them to remember us with….so we wrote them some notes. In Mr. A’s office for example we found UAE’s flag on the table. One of the girl hung it on the top of the disk writing jokily “Please respect our flag”…in other offices we wrote “Hi! We were here!” “There is no messages for you, try again” “BOO! We are trying to act silly”. Once we went out the wings, we could not stop laughing.

In the early morning...

I love those peaceful moments of the early morning which I am enjoying right now. I like to wake up at a time like this and have a very early breakfast before I start fasting. Its quite quiet right now, my Dad and brothers are a sleep and I think that they don’t want to be bothered to be waken up…they will wake up when they feel like it…

I noticed something!! When I write a poem on this time of the morning, my poems appears better! I feel like they get more meanings into them. Sometimes when I read them again, I say "Wow! Did I actually write now?" however, there is something bothers me, I have a business quiz today, I hope that I will do well and not screw up like I did with the economic exam which I did not have its mark yet.

I feel so tired, of course!! That is because of yesterday's events! Yesterday was the Iftar night in ZU and I enjoyed it sooo much, I will write about it in my next blog…right now, I might go over my Business notes, write poems or have a nap until the bus comes at 7…its 5 now...

What a Week!!...2

Mr. D asked me to mark with him for the next presentation. I apologized coz my economic exam was in the time of the presentations. But in that day, I got to see his wife again! Wow!! 2 days in a raw! We had a very nice chat about this and that in the atrium… can’t wait to see her again.

In Thursday, my aunt called me and asked if it is ok with me to go with them to Ajman. I took permission from Dad and before we go to Ajman, I went to visit my granny. Thanks God, She is much better now…. I was relieved to go out, I needed some fresh air. I wanted to go out somewhere to get my mind off thinking about some stuff. I missed going out with my auntie and her family. We went for a walk and then went for shopping. The breeze of that night refreshed my soul and I was thankful that I am still alive enjoying the company of my auntie and cousin F

What a busy week! Though I enjoyed parts of it some events made me really devastated. One of them was that economic exam and then some other unpleasant events… I will survive.

What a Week!!...1

Two weeks had passed since Ramadan started and the second week was really stressful. Since it began and I was so concerned about the economic exam on Wednesday, this was one of the worse stuff which I was so worried about that week. I don’t know what this subject is all about. I never been interested in this kind of subjects but what can I do? I am obliged to study it and pass it. This is the thing which comes out of being in a major which is not really your choice to be in. I did my best studying for it and in the exam…I did ok, I will get my grade sometime next week.

The good part of that week was marking presentation with Mr. D! On Tuesday at 9 am was the time Mr. D asked me to go and mark with him and Mr. A. the most interesting thing was that Mr. D’s wife N was coming to observe! When I went to the classroom that morning, I saw her reading some magazines while waiting for students. I was happy to see her; it’s been around one year since the last time I saw her…though we were in touch but still!!

We had a conversation and then the students, Mr. D, Mr. A and Ms. R came. It was fun and useful marking presentations, I know more about it now. I was glad that Mr. D was discussing the grades with me…he really trusts me! The girls did great and better than we expected and Mr. D kept complimenting them till Mr. G showed up…it was his time to teach and we took some of his time, If you are reading Mr. G, sorry about that.

The Day of the Surgery

Its been more than one month since I had that operation surgery on my right eye. Its so surprising to see how time flies by!! When I look at myself in the mirror now, I notice that I look different! I did not realize that in the beginning but I do now.

One month ago and before couple of hours before the operation, I was feeling nothing. When I had a shower and went back to my bed, a nurse brought me the green operation clothes! I wore them and I knew that there is no turning back. I took a nap and awoke when I heard my Dad's voice "Where is the one who will do the operation?" Once he saw me, he stopped joking and looked worried.

They took me to the operation room at 8:30 am and I started to get anxious. I was glad to see my doctor before the operation as she cheered me up. Suddenly I fall a sleep and the next thing I remembered was "Maryam! Wake up, we are finished." I woke up in the afternoon and I had a headache, felt like vomiting and weak. Dad and auntie were around; grandma did not stop telling them to be around me. In the evening, my brothers came for a visit, I was SOOO happy to see them and my cousins came to see me as well.

I stayed in the hospital for one week and could start the first day of the academic year with the rest of my friends. However, those people who cared for me during that time, relatives, family, teachers and friends…I will never forget how much they supported me … so thank you guys, you mean a lot to me!
