The Farewell Party...5

Chapter #5: Fun with Mr. Dn, great feedback from the teachers and YEA! We will miss them :(

Afterwards, I heard my friend saying “Who is that teacher?” I looked away from where I was looking to see Mr. Dn! He was late but still made it! Better late than never! The girls greeted him…while he was watching the video, the girls prepared his lunch. We sat with him and had a really fun chat.

Mr. Dn left and we figured out that there was a lot of food left. We were divided into groups to distribute the food to some teachers who were still around.

It was sad that some teachers could not make it like Mr. N. he had to attend the faculty meeting. Mr. Tn could not make it as well but luckily his wife Ms. K was there. Ms. Su and Ms. Tr were sick, and Ms. Ch had to attend the faculty meeting.

In the following days, my friends and I were so delighted to see many teachers wearing our gifts! The ties looked good on teachers! Besides, it was great hearing the female teachers say “It was real fun making those fancy necklaces”

It was a really good party but it feels so sad that I won’t see some teachers next semester… those who I have known for one, two even three years! They will really be missed….Ms. Tr, Ms. Al, Ms. K, Mr. A, Mr. JG, Mr. Ma, Mr. Tn, Mr, Jo, Mr. Dw, Mr. N, Ms. Se, Ms. Ja, Ms. Iv, Ms. Ch, Mr. R, Ms. Su…..

That party recharged my energy for the following examination week; it was more than just amazing. …those teachers will never be forgotten…As long as I am still alive; I won’t lose hope of meeting them someday… so for now, Farewell but never Goodbye…

The Farewell Party...4

Chapter #4: Let's Party!!

One by one, teachers started to arrive. The party started at 12: 20 pm by me thanking the teachers for coming then I asked the most important question “teachers who got an invitation card from us, please raise you hand” as confused as they were, they rose their hands. “Look around the room, what is the common thing between you all?” … “We are teachers in ZU?” Mr. Ma said joking ….then they soon realized that they all are leaving!

“We can’t express how we really feel, just have a look at this movie please”…Monako turned off the lights and I turned on the movie….2:08 minutes was the length of the movie…my tears fell at that moment, I could see that teachers were really touched…after the ending of the movie… I spoke again “There is one more thing, girls take your positions” I said. Two girls were in each corner, holding their canons! I heard Wows coming from the teachers. Something unexpected happen…all of them did not work! It looked like a computation and was really embarrassing. After trying so hard only two exploded and looked really amazing!

It was the cake time, I was hoping for a volunteer… no one came out except for Mr. St, my ex English teacher who is by the way not leaving, so I asked for a clap for him. He stood there and the teachers were behind him…the girls took photos and videoed the moment. The teachers had a really good time which we all really hoped for.

When they thought that everything was over, it was the time to distribute the presents. K and H looked at me asking me to call the teachers who are leaving by their names. First, we gave the gentlemen one by one, and then it was the ladies turn. The teachers were so delighted! I asked them to open the gifts if they liked…and most of them did!

The female teachers loved the pearl necklaces and the male teachers like the neckties. Soon, one by one they left. I stayed with the friends H, Vipo, Shakira, Moon, Al, M and her friend E. At that moment, M said that she want to make a birthday party for her friend E right away! E was shocked herself when we sang the Birthday song for her! It was great having TWO parties in one day.

The Farewell Party...3

Chapter #3: Testing, tearing, running, mistake with the cake, not attending??

The day of the party was really hectic! I was lucky not to have any classes until 3 pm since most of them were cancelled. In the morning, K, H, Mm, Al and I went to design the room. K surprised us with “Spray canon”…I was afraid that it will make a lot of noise when we explode it! So we rehearsed first. K and Shakira, who joined us later before her class starts, shoot one and WOOOW! Different shinny papers big and small came out from the canon with a loud sound! We had 4 left for the REAL party. While the girls were busy with the balloons, I was working on the movie maker using K’s laptop…it was really hard since I had not much photos of the new campus and the old…what made it worse that I left my laptop at home!

K took some photos right away and my old friend R sent me some through the MSN. I was soon done with it. I showed it to some girls and OPPS I brought tears to their eyes. I was tearing myself but I was like “Its just a movie!” …It was titled with "Farewell but Never Goodbye".

I went to take the presents from Mr. Dn office. I asked him if he can make it to the party…he promised that he will do his best because he would be attending a meeting. Later on, I heard that there would be a faculty meeting that afternoon, the same one that Mr. Dn would attend…I was worried that some of them won’t make it; I could not judge or decide until the party’s time.

The girls went to their classes and I stayed with H in the room. When it was 11:30 pm. Sa and I ran to the cafeteria in F wing to get the soft drinks which I bought in the night before. I almost forgot that I was running wearing boots! I was really careful; it was the last day which I wanted to get myself in to troubles AGAIN. After 10 minutes of getting the soft drinks and delivering them to the room, K called asking for help “I need someone to help in B wing, the food and Cake arrived”

I ran again to B wing’s gate. I helped Sa, who was there before me, by carrying some of the food…they were heavy! We reached the room and placed that everything on its place! There was a mistake on the cake! “Farewell but never goodbye” was suppose to be written on the cake BUT!! What was written “For all Not Goodbye!” that was embarrassing but TOO LATE.

The Farewell Party...2

Chapter #2: Planning, booking, wraping, inviting & orgnazing

The party was supposed to be on Tuesday June 5 but through our investigation we found out that many teachers won’t make it that day! So we had to move it to Wednesday June 6.

Tuesday was a really big day. In the morning, K came up with an idea…to make the party in the VIP fine dinning room or the glass room. However, we could not because they were already booked. Our other option was one of the meeting rooms. K and I went to the administration. The people there said that they need a teacher from our side to book the room. The first person who came in mind was Mr. J, but he was absent at that day. K suggested Mr. Do … after hesitation I went to him. And yes! After explaining the whole situation, the kind Mr. Do was more than happy to do it for us!

Before noon, a group of girls and I went to distribute the invitations to the teachers who are leaving. We did not tell them that we are making a farewell party…all what we said that it was an end of year party. The teachers were so excited about it. We invited other teachers too, we wanted them to join us and told them the main “purpose” behind the party and asked them to keep the secret.

After wrapping the gifts, K realized that it would be hard on us to take them back to UAQ! I added that we might forget them in our hometown in the day of the party. The only choice was leaving them on campus. I suggested that we can leave them with a teacher. Not many of them were around. Luckily, Mr. Dn was in his office. We asked him if he can keep them with him until the following morning. He was really kind and agreed on that!

Everything was set for the big day…the party room, presents, cake, and balloons! All what was left was starting the party…An idea came to my mind at the last moment…making a movie maker for the party…I remember not sleeping well that night because of it. Besides, all what I was working on suddenly vanished, I went to bed keeping that I should do it in the following morning.

The Farewell Party...1

Chapter #1: The brilliant Idea & shopping for presents!

It shocked me knowing that there are a lot of teachers who are leaving by the academic year! I wanted to do something for them but I had no idea what! At the beginning of May, my friend and bus mate K approached me with an idea. “Why don’t we make a farewell party for the teachers who are leaving?” I loved the idea and asked K to count me in. We then asked some of our friends if they want to join…in no time, we were 10!

We got busy during May but we were talking about that party from time to time. In the last week of May, we put a full outline for the party. K and I were in charged of the gifts. The girls wanted me to buy presents for the Male teachers and K for the female ones. So during the weekend, we went shopping.

Dad was with me and I told him about the party and everything! To my surprise, Dad started to help me finding them! The main thing which was in mind was buying neckties! And after going though a lot of hardships, I succeeded on that! It was really hard choosing the colors. I was afraid that my friends might not like it or the teachers as well.

We planned to wrap the gifts on Sunday but we cancelled coz the girl who was suppose to bring the wrapping papers did not feel well in the night before. The thing is that I brought the presents with me that day. The girls LOVED THEM!! At that very moment, they were voting for each gift and for whom it should belong. K brought the presents in the following day! They were amazing! Pearl necklaces but not ordinary ones! No! The pearl is inside a shell which should be broken in order to get that pearl! Then it should be placed inside the necklace!

Acadamic year 06-07, Final Days

It’s been a while since the last time I uploaded my blog. I just can’t believe how busy my life is! This is the second day in the summer vacation. Of course, I am not happy about it but there is nothing much I can do here except being patient. I will take this change to upload my blog with many events that happened during the last semester which I did not get the chance to write them all.

I finished my final exams on Thursday, June 14 but I still went to the campus in the following week until final exams for the whole university officially finished. Everyone thought that I was crazy going there… “You are suppose to be at home sleeping” many of them said. It’s been three years since I joined the community of Zayed University, however, I never become bored of it. I just can’t believe that I am graduating after two years! It’s a really sad thought.

I was saying goodbye to my dear friends and teachers in the last days. I was trying so hard to stop my tears from falling when I say a final goodbye to a teacher who is leaving once and for all. Though I love going to ZU, it was really sad….

In the last day Tuesday, June 19, I borrowed my brother’s phone since its camera has a better quality. And from the moment I saw the campus from a distance, I started taking photos of it. The parking lot near F wing, F gate, F wing main entrance, F wing long corridor, the small cafeteria, the lockers, the elevators, the bridge, the huge atrium, the librarian desk I used to set on, the corridor to the coffee shop, my place on the coffee shop, my friends in there, some teachers who are leaving, the corridors between the wings, the party meeting room “that’s another story”, the dinning hall, the oasis courtyard, B wing long corridor, B wing entrance, the parking lot and UAQ bus…

I feel like crying every time I take a look at these photos…two months huh? It sounds really far! I will survive….I should find stuff to make this vacation finish ASAP!
